North of Pemba, in the beautiful Quirimbas Archipelago, lies Ibo Island Lodge – a luxury beachfront hotel. The best way to access the island is a short flight from Pemba. The hotel itself holds more than 150 years of history and are surrounded by beautiful tropical gardens and palms.
The accommodation at Ibo Island Lodge are found in the two mansions, Paridiso and Niassa, while the main, public areas are in the Bela Vista mansion. With just 14 rooms, the styles and layouts are wonderfully varied and feature many locally crafted furniture and fabrics. All the rooms are spacious and include a four-poster bed, en-suite bathrooms and air-conditioning. Some rooms look out onto the sea, others onto the gardens and pool and there are also family-friendly rooms available. The lodge features a central lounge and private dining room with meals focused on fresh seafood and Portuguese cuisine.
For excursions the lodge offers a unique dhow island-hopping safari as well as guided tours that brings the fascinating history of the island to life. There are also opportunities to try scuba diving, guided sea kayaking and birding safaris. For ultimate relaxation there are a variety of massages and beauty treatments available at the lodge spa.
