On the east side of Lake Langano in the Rift Valley lakes region, Hara Langano makes for the ideal stop to enjoy a relaxing break on journeys between the northern highlands and either Bale or the southern region.
The airy, cabin-styled lakeside bungalows are comfortable and widely spaced, with en-suite bathrooms. Mosquito netting is provided. From the restaurant, guests can watch hippos and a myriad of birds while dining (local guide Hakim is rapidly gaining a reputation for impressing guests with his birding skills).
The lodge has its own vegetable garden and a tree nursery for habitat rehabilitation. Commendable work is being conducted with a local school, Kimphe, where it has implemented water sanitation and created staff accommodation. Guests can enjoy taking part in such activities as boat trips, walks, horse-riding and fishing.
