We’re delighted to share that Ben Morison, our CEO has been awarded entrance into the Global Travel and Tourism Resilience Council Hall of Fame.
This prestigious award celebrates leaders who have made significant and lasting impacts on the travel and environmental sectors. Ben’s career has been defined by pioneering initiatives that blend commercial success with a deep commitment to sustainability and community impact.
Some of Ben’s standout, sustainability-focused achievements that earned him a place in the Global Travel & Tourism Hall of Fame include:
The Flipflopi Project (2015-Present)
Ben launched an initiative to combat marine pollution by building the world’s first recycled plastic sailing boat. Hailed by The Times as "Africa’s Blue Planet moment" the project influenced plastic bans in Kenya and Tanzania and continues to create a circular economy in Lamu, recycling 12 tonnes of plastic monthly.
Far & Wild Travel (2018-Present):
A pioneer in sustainable travel, Far & Wild donates 10% of its profits to non-profits. The company offsets carbon emissions for 90% of its holiday sales and is committed to transparently reporting on all its sustainability linked activity.
During the Covid pandemic, Ben and Far & Wild MD Alistair led a charity bike ride from Lands End to John O'Groats, uniting the travel industry to raise $500,000 for African national parks. The campaign attracted the support of brands including Landrover, Belmond and Accor Hotels, and earned widespread media coverage on the BBC, The Telegraph, plus winning that years prestigious Out There Magazine Sustainability Award.
Carbon Scoring Framework (2021)
Ben initiated the development of a pioneering carbon scoring framework for tailor-made holidays – the first tool of its kind in the world to accurately quantify the carbon footprint of a 100% tailor-made holiday. Instead of retaining the IP of the tool, he allowed it be open source, and variations of the framework have now been adopted industry wide.
Wilder Guides (2022)
Ben launched this independent guidebook publisher focused on responsible travel, releasing a Namibia guide in 2021 and co-authoring The Wilder Guide to Kenya with Jan Fox in 2024.
