The itinerary…
Day 1: Flight to Managua and transfer to Leon
Depart the UK on a daytime flight to Managua, Nicaragua's capital. On arrival, transfer 1.5 hours to Leon, a charming town with a rich colonial history dating back to the 1600s. Experience its artistic flair, great cuisine, and lively nightlife. Enjoy a 2-night stay at Hotel el Convento, centrally located in the heart of this picturesque city.
Day 2: Cerro Volcano & Leon City Tour
Begin your action-packed day with an early rise to conquer Cerro Negro Volcano, embarking on one of Nicaragua's iconic adventures as you board down its active slopes while gaining insights into the region's geology. Later, delve into the splendid historic centre of Leon, with its rich past and magnificent colonial architecture. Immerse yourself in the local culture with a visit to the bustling fruit and vegetable market, experiencing the daily rhythms of life.
Day 3: Leon to Granada
Journey south to Granada, one of Latin America’s gems and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Enjoy a 3-night stay at the boutique Hotel Plaza Colon, with its stunning views of the charming main square. Upon settling in, embark on a guided stroll through the historic city. Discover its vibrant history, splendid colonial architecture, and iconic landmarks such as the ancient city walls, San Francisco Convent, and La Merced church, offering spectacular panoramas from its bell tower.
Day 4: Mombacho & Masaya Volcanoes
Explore the verdant cloud forest near Mombacho Volcano, spotting diverse wildlife and soaking in panoramic vistas. Ascend the volcano via a 4x4 ride through Mombacho Nature Reserve, pausing for a delightful local coffee en-route. On a guided hike you will encounter various landscapes and indigenous species, culminating in stunning vistas over Granada and beyond.
Just before sunset, head to Masaya volcano for a glimpse of the green "Chocoyos" (Parakeets). Experience the captivating sights and sounds of the volcano at night, where these birds have adapted to the sulphurous emissions. Conclude with a visit to a viewpoint for a peek into the crater, showcasing lava formations from 2006.
Day 5: Free day in Granada

Day 6: Isletas de Granada
Transfer to Marina Cocibolca for the short boat ride to the Isletas de Granada.
