On the banks of the Ruaha river
For a Safari that reflects the luxury of the long-gone Colonial era, you can do no better than to spend time at Azura Selous.
We're sad to report that Azura Selous is now closed. But don't worry, there are plenty of other incredible places to stay in the Selous, which you can check out here.
Azura Selous is certainly up there with the most luxurious, comfortable safari accommodation in Southern Tanzania.
The twelve deluxe rooms are part tent, part earthy red stone, with a large bedroom under canvas and a reception area designed to emulate a giant termite mound. They are very stylish and open to the elements to ensure that you don't lose that wonderful feeling of being out in the wild. Each room has a different theme, plus a modern stone bathroom with ‘his and her’ sinks, both an indoor shower and a more rustic outdoor shower, a wooden deck with loungers and a small natural plunge pool down towards the river – the perfect place to keep cool.
You will enjoy the game drives at dawn and dusk, boat trips through the day, and when relaxing at camp the joy of amazing views of the warthogs, elephants and hippos by the river. Wildlife numbers are increasing in the second largest protected wilderness area in the world
