Spitzkoppen Lodge

About 3 hours drive inland from Swakopmund, the incredible Spitzkoppe is arguably one of the most beautiful and scenically impressive places in Namibia. Until very recently the only form of accommodation was a campsite, mostly used by keen rock-climbers and adventure travellers. Recently however, a local businessman discovered water, a pre-requisite for any infrastructural development. As a result, the extraordinary Spitzkoppen Lodge was built and opened at the end of 2016.

There is a raised wooden walkway, snaking its way over and around rocky outcrops that split the extraordinary, modern rooms from the main building. Divided into three levels the main building itself, is modern with huge glass windows and a deck from where there are splendid views over the surrounds. There is a lovely rock pool from where you can enjoy views over the surrounding plains. Adding to the surreal feel of the property, guests are transported from the main building to chalets by golf cart. Watching sunsets while the sun disappears behind the Brandberg Mountains adds to the place’s magic.

The 15 chalets are on high, raised platforms, each with modern bathroom and a covered deck. Two are linked to create a family chalet.

The area has an abundance of rock paintings and engravings; rare wildlife and birdlife. Guests can go on self-guided hikes to see the amazing rock formations; there are local subsistence miners in the area who extract tourmaline and other stones. Some of these are sold at the curio shop.
