Superb locality for rhino tracking
In the remote Palmwag Concession, this Wilderness property is a venture in collaboration with Save the Rhino Trust. For those wanting to track critically endangered Black rhino, this camp is an excellent option. With the typical ‘Wilderness finish’, guests can expect a well-maintained, impeccably run camp. The 400, 000ha concession is home to interesting wildlife in part because of freshwater springs. Aside from Black rhino and desert-adapted elephant, you may see lion, leopard, cheetah and herbivores including Hartmann’s zebra, kudu, oryx and giraffe.
The raised, v-shaped main building has a comfy lounge, dining area and bar. There is info on the work of Save the Rhino Trust for interested guests. Outside, is a welcome swimming pool on a deck. The property faces a waterhole and guests have the chance to see interesting wildlife visiting it. Eight tents are spacious, beautifully decorated and have en-suite bathrooms. All have safe and also, a horn which to use in case of any issues.
Rhino tracking: when rhino are located by trackers, they radio the lodge and guests are taken to the location and with a ranger, track the rhino on foot. Excursions can be very quick, or it may take a day and involve travel on bumpy terrain. There are also game/ nature drives.
