Knowledgeable and caring hosts make this simple camp a home from home
Location
Set beside the seasonal Manzi River, in a remote corner of South Luangwa National Park, this peaceful little camp is all about stillness, simplicity and close encounters with the wild. You’ll often see game passing right in front of camp.
Rooms
Kuyenda has just four traditional thatched rondavels, built with natural reed and grass and spaced out beneath shady trees. The interiors are delightfully rustic yet comfortable, with proper beds, mosquito nets, and open-air en-suite bathrooms where you can shower under the stars. We love how the canvas walls let the morning birdsong gently wake you each day.
Amenities
The heart of the camp is the open-fronted lounge and dining area, where guests gather around, swap stories, and enjoy home-style meals cooked over the coals. It’s sociable, relaxed and unpretentious. You’ll also find a cosy library, perfect for those quite moments after a safari.
Activities
This is proper walking safari country. You’ll head out on foot with some of the best guides in Zambia, tracking lion prints through the dust, learning the language of the bush, and spotting wildlife from ground level. There are also game drives and night drives for those magical big-cat moments.
Sustainability
Through The Bushcamp Company’s Luangwa Conservation & Community Fund (LCCF), a mandatory donation of US $10 per person per night supports vital wildlife protection in South Luangwa. These funds help drive anti-snaring and anti-poaching patrols carried out with Conservation South Luangwa, and sustain the Zambian Carnivore Programme, ensuring the safety of leopards, wild dogs, and other predators. The camp also invests heavily in local education and clean water access. To date, the company have drilled nearly 300 boreholes and provided daily meals to over 4,000 schoolchildren.
