Thrilling game drives and white-sand beaches

From the drama of the Mara to the calm of the coast – this is the ultimate bush and beach honeymoon.

The honeymoon begins the moment you board your light aircraft in Nairobi. You’ll take a romantic flight over vast wilderness, dotted with acacia trees and winding rivers, before being whisked into the heart of the iconic Masai Mara to witness the astonishing Great Migration as it unfolds across the Mara's golden plains.

Our Africa specialist, Ottilie, says:

"Witnessing the migration is immensely moving. It’s all about change and new life, which feels like such a meaningful way to begin your own new chapter. Your base at Naibor is a very romantic camp, too – luxurious but still connected to nature. And then to wind down in Zanzibar, relaxing on paradise beaches after all the excitement of safari, really is the perfect balance. I honestly can’t think of a better honeymoon."

Naibor Camp is an elegant tented retreat nestled under shady trees along the banks of the Talek River. Here, you’ll wake to birdsong and the distant grumble of hippos, and fall asleep to the sounds of the African bush. Days are spent exploring with expert guides, tracking big cats, elephants, and the wildebeest herds that define this incredible spectacle. And if you're visiting between July and October, you may witness the dramatic river crossings, as herds bravely navigate crocodile-infested waters on their journey south.

For something extra special, take to the skies on a sunrise hot air balloon flight, drifting silently above the savannah as the first light washes over the landscape and wildlife stirs below. Then, touch down to a romantic champagne breakfast in the bush.

After the thrill of safari, fly to Zanzibar and let the pace slow. You’ll stay at a luxurious beachfront hideaway, where you can stroll barefoot along powder-white sand, swim in your private pool, and savour warm, starlit evenings together. Dine on fresh seafood, tropical fruits, and Swahili-inspired dishes with uninterrupted views of the stunning Indian Ocean. Whether you're snorkelling over coral reefs or relaxing with a cocktail in hand, the sense of space and calm is deeply restorative.

This is more than a honeymoon – it’s a journey into the wild, a retreat by the sea, and a celebration of new beginnings in two of Africa’s most breathtaking locations.

Trip Itinerary

Day 1 Welcome to Kenya

Staying at Naibor Camp

Upon arrival at Nairobi's International Airport, you will be greeted by a F&W representative who will transfer you to Wilson Airport. From here, you will board a scenic flight to the Masai Mara.
This scenic flight takes approximately one hour where you’ll look out the plane windows at the unspoilt wilderness of the open plains below, filling you all with awe before you even step foot in the National Park in the Great Rift Valley.

Touching down at the airstrip, you will be welcomed by your safari guide from Naibor Camp - your home for the next four nights.

This is where the safari fun begins. Drive through the open plains to your camp, amongst potentially millions of wildebeest and zebra, giving the Masai Mara its wildlife-related fame worldwide.

Day 2-4 Explore the Masai Mara: Wildebeest Migration and Big Cats

Day 5 Beach time

Sand in your toes

After your wake-up for a early morning game drive, and your last hippo watching breakfast in the Masai Mara, you will be transferred back to the Mara airstrip for your afternoon flight to Nairobi. Just after lunch you'll catch a connecting flight to Zanzibar island, off the coast of Tanzania. After a one-hour 45-min flight, you’ll be met by your driver for a short drive across the flat island through villages to the resort.

Set in 32 hectares of tropical gardens along a pristine mile-long beach, the resort offers an exclusive and relaxing retreat for its guests. You will stay in a Luxury Garden Pool Villa with breakfast and dinner included.

Day 6 - 11 Sun, Swim & Snorkel

The Residence Zanzibar bedroom

This is your chance to let it all sink in, rest on the beach, by the large pool and drink in the sunshine (and cocktails!). If you have the energy, try kite surfing, windsurfing, snorkelling, scuba diving, golf or tennis.

January

January is a great time for wildlife viewing. The landscapes are lush and green after the 'short rains' and newborn animals can been seen. It is hot, but brief afternoon or evening showers cool things down, without compromising your safari. Over on the coast the sea is clear, making it ideal for diving and snorkelling, and the days are warm and bright.

February

February is an ideal time to visit Kenya, and great for game viewing. The landscapes are green and thriving thanks to the short rains, and newborn animals will be hopping around the plains. There maybe a few afternoon showers which are welcome in the heat, and don't impact on wildlife viewing. Water clarify is excellent at the moment, which is good news for watersports enthusiasts. And if you want to spot a whale shark, now is the time to try.

March

Still a good option for wildlife viewing and diving, although with the 'long rains' just around the corner, expect wetter and hotter weather.

April

April brings the start of the 'long rains' which means game reserves and national parks become muddy and harder to drive around. Over on the coast it's hot and wet, so it isn't the best time of year to travel. Some camps and lodges close during this period.

May

The 'long rains' continue into May, making park tracks difficult to navigate in the mud, and the coast very warm and wet. There will be less accommodation choice at this time as several lodges and camps during this period.

June

June is a beautiful time of year to visit Kenya, with the rains receding to just light showers, and the long dry season not far ahead. The high grasses can sometimes make it more of a challenge to spot game, but the landscapes are lush and some animals may begin arriving early for the migration. At altitude nights can be cool, but elsewhere the temperature is pleasant.

July

July marks the beginning of the great migration into the Masai Mara, and with warm and generally dry weather, this is a great time of year to visit. Days are sunny, skies are blue and there isn't too much dust around, so it's a great time for photography.

August

The migration is now in full swing in the Masai Mara, with lots of river crossing action, so if you want to see those massive herds of wildebeest and zebra, now is the time to come. Game viewing in general is excellent and it's one of the most popular times of year to visit, so some of the main parks do become crowded. Temperatures are warm and dry.

September

Game viewing continues to be excellent, and the weather is generally dry so this is another ideal month to visit Kenya's parks. The bush is less dense and as animals gather around waterholes and rivers it makes wildlife spotting much easier.

October

October is a great time if you want to avoid the crowds and don't mind the temperature slowly starting to rise. There may be a few short showers, but game viewing remains excellent with the end of the migration, and it's a good time to holiday anywhere in Kenya.

November

November heralds the start of the 'short rains' and with hotter temperatures some camps are closed. The Mara however is still open, and despite sometimes stormy skies, game viewing is still good. Fewer crowds and lower prices make this an attractive month to visit. Over on the coast water clarify is good for snorkelling and diving.

December

The 'short rains' are bringing the landscapes back to life, and as the plains start to become green again, wildlife viewing remains good, and it's a great time for birding. Some camps are closed (mainly in the north of Kenya) but many others remain open. The showers tend to fall in the afternoons and don't impact greatly on a safari. Take advantage of reduced visitor numbers and lower prices.
