Abundant wildlife, unique landscapes and luxurious accomodation, Dinaka is the perfect addition to any safari.
Location: Set on a private reserve bordering Botswana’s Central Kalahari Game Reserve, Dinaka offers a rare glimpse into one of Africa’s most remote and enchanting landscapes. This is Kalahari country at its most soulful – wide skies, fossil riverbeds, and a surprising richness of life. What we love is how the desert transforms with the seasons, from golden silence to bursts of birdsong and new growth after the rains.
Rooms: Each of the seven tents is raised on wooden platforms, offering views of the waterhole and the surrounding wilderness. There is a natural, neutral palette and thoughtful details: generous beds, both indoor and outdoor showers, and shaded verandas for quiet afternoons. There’s also a spacious two-bedroom family tent, ideal if you're travelling with little ones or as a group.
Amenities: At the heart of camp is a relaxed thatched lounge and dining area where you can gather, swap stories, or simply take in the view. The plunge pool is a welcome treat after a morning in the bush – cool, refreshing, and shaded by trees. Meals are home-cooked and hearty, often enjoyed al fresco around the fire or in the open-air dining space, with a good wine in hand.
Activities: You’ll head out on morning and afternoon game drives in open 4x4s, with just four guests per vehicle for a more personal experience. Night drives reveal the Kalahari’s more elusive residents, while guided bushwalks with San Bushmen offer an insight into their deep connection with the land. Over 200 bird species make this a dream for keen birders, and the sleep-out deck lets you spend a night under one of the clearest skies on earth.
Sustainability: As part of its commitment to sustainable travel, Dinaka Camp supports several conservation programs. Direct contributions help fund rhino protection with Rhino Conservation Botswana. Guests can take part in the Pack for a Purpose initiative to bring essential donations for the Bana Ba Letsatsi children’s charity; and the camp’s partnership with Travel for Impact and We Are Africa channels tourism revenue directly into local community businesses and cultural projects.
