Step into the wilderness where time stands still in eternal moments of sheer bliss, a place where nature and man make a merger of the most spectacular kind.
Location: The Rainforest Eco-Lodge sits within the Enselwatte Estate in Deniyaya, bordering the Sinharaja Forest Reserve – a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Biosphere Reserve, and globally recognised biodiversity hotspot in Sri Lanka. Once a tea estate, the land has been carefully reimagined to showcase the richness of this unique rainforest habitat.
Rooms: Sixteen chalets are set amidst a tea patch on the forest’s edge, each built using two and a half recycled shipping containers. Elevated on stilts, the chalets feature bedrooms, living areas, bathrooms, and private decks with sweeping views of the rainforest canopy. Interiors combine bamboo panelling with floors and decking made from reclaimed railway sleepers, creating an eco-friendly yet stylish retreat.
Amenities: Guests can enjoy an observation deck, lounge, and meeting space, all designed to frame spellbinding views of the surrounding forest. Every chalet is well equipped with modern comforts, ensuring a balance between immersion in nature and home-like ease.
Activities: Nature trails and guided treks through Sinharaja offer the chance to explore its remarkable biodiversity, including 147 species of birds. Guests can swim in natural pools, try a traditional fish spa in nearby streams, or simply relax on their private deck.
Sustainability: The Rainforest Eco-Lodge is a model of sustainable tourism, using recycled materials, renewable practices, and low-impact architecture. Its ethos centres on preserving fragile ecosystems while providing meaningful experiences that connect guests to the rainforest’s natural and cultural heritage.
