This magnificent private house has been designed with originality and luxury in mind.
Location
Luangwa Safari House sits in a peaceful corner of the South Luangwa, just outside the park on a private stretch of land where wildlife wanders freely. Surrounded by ancient ebony trees and overlooking a seasonal lagoon, it’s the sort of place where you can sip coffee on the deck while elephants come to drink just metres away.
Rooms
This beautifully designed house sleeps up to eight guests in four en-suite bedrooms, each with an open-fronted style that brings the sights and sounds of the bush right to your bed. We love the natural materials, with polished wood, leadwood trunks, cool stone, and the way every room opens out to a private veranda or balcony. The upstairs rooms offer sweeping views over the trees, while downstairs you’ll feel right on the edge of the lagoon.
Amenities
There’s a lovely sense of freedom here. The central lounge and dining area is all soaring thatch and open space, with a grand marble dining table and a staircase leading up to the first floor. You’ve got a plunge pool for cooling off in the afternoons, a private hide for peaceful wildlife viewing, and a full team, including a chef, butler, and guide looking after you with quiet charm and expertise.
Activities
All your safaris are private here, which makes it ideal for families or small groups travelling together. You’ll head out in your own vehicle with an expert guide, or explore on foot for a deeper connection to the bush. Expect lions, leopards, elephants, and more. You can also visit local markets or schools supported by nearby conservation projects—guests often say these experiences are just as memorable as the wildlife.
Sustainability
The lodge supports Project Luangwa and the Luangwa Conservation & Community Fund, assisting vital efforts such as anti-poaching patrols, wildlife monitoring, ranger training, and human–wildlife conflict resolution in and around South Luangwa. Beyond wildlife, Luangwa Safari House contributes to local communities by funding the Luangwa Safari Association Medical Fund, which supports Kakumbi Health Centre, and the Kawaza Village school project, providing educational materials and sustaining village livelihoods.
