The Kenyan coast has some fantastic reefs, making this a wonderful spot for snorkelling and diving, particularly between October and February when the warm waters are at their clearest. This is also when whale sharks head towards the coast, swimming up from Diani beach, offering a true once-in-a-lifetime experience to swim alongside these gentle giants. Watamu Marine National Park is brilliant for beginners with colourful parrot fish and sturgeon, or more advanced divers can take a dhow from Diani beach to Kisite National Park, where you can see barracuda, rare zebra sharks and some of the largest manta rays on the east coast of Africa.
