Resident hippos will generally serenade you year-round from the water on the floodplain in front of the camp
Location: Kwara Camp sits in a beautifully remote corner of the private Kwara Reserve, sharing a boundary with Botswana's Moremi Reserve, but far from the crowds. This is classic Okavango Delta terrain at its most diverse, with access to both permanent water channels and wide-open plains.
Rooms: There are just nine safari tents, each raised on a private deck with sweeping views across the lagoon. Inside, the design is understated but elegant - spacious, airy, and perfectly in tune with the setting. You’ll find indoor and outdoor showers, deep bathtubs, ceiling fans, and thoughtful little details like a writing desk and charging station. What we love is how peaceful it feels, especially in the early mornings when the waterbirds start to stir.
Amenities: The main area is a relaxed space where you can swap stories by the bar, browse the small library, or simply take in the view from a shaded armchair. There are two swimming pools, each with its own quiet sitting area and outlook over the lagoon, ideal for cooling off between game drives.
Meals are fresh, generous, and sociable, often served outdoors with everyone gathered around one table and the night sky overhead.
Activities: You’ll explore with an expert guide and tracker duo, with just four guests per vehicle for an unhurried and immersive experience. Game drives (day and night), boat safaris, walking excursions, and traditional mokoro trips are offered. This is one of the best areas in Botswana for predator sightings, especially wild dog.
Sustainability: The camp is fully solar powered and built on raised decking to minimise its environmental footprint. There’s no Wi-Fi or phone signal, making it a true digital detox. Through local partnerships and initiatives like Pack for a Purpose, Kwando supports grassroots conservation and community upliftment, something we really admire about their ethos.
