Named for Scandinavian royalty, each luxury tent has its own plunge pool and views of Kings Pool Lagoon
Location: Overlooking the oxbow-shaped King’s Pool Lagoon and the Linyanti River, King’s Pool Camp sits deep within the Linyanti Concession in northern Botswana. Though it takes effort to reach, the journey into the African bush - by light aircraft and winding roads - is part of the adventure. This remote location delivers one of the most authentic and exclusive safari experiences in Botswana, whilst holding itself to luxury standards for accommodation and service.
Rooms: The camp has eight luxurious tented rooms, including a honeymoon suite with a king-sized bed. Each spacious tent features a private plunge pool, sala, lounge area and wide lagoon views. Canvas doors fold completely open to connect the interior with the surrounding wilderness. Inside, guests find a dressing area, bedroom, and bathroom with double showers, washbasins, a separate toilet and an outdoor shower. All tents are fan-cooled and come equipped with soaps, shampoo, towels and insect repellent.
Amenities: King’s Pool’s main area includes a comfortable lounge, dining room and bar, all set on expansive raised decks overlooking the water. There is also a swimming pool and an open-air kgotla for atmospheric dining under the stars. The camp’s thoughtful design, elegant thatch and canvas architecture, and raised positioning make it one of Botswana’s most stylish and serene lodges. The raised main areas allow wildlife to move freely beneath, creating a true sense of being in the wild while surrounded by remarkable comfort.
Activities: Activities at King’s Pool focus on exceptional wildlife encounters. Guests can enjoy game drives in open 4x4 Land Rovers, guided walking safaris and time in the camp’s hides, which offer remarkable close-up viewing and birdwatching. Fishing is available for those who wish to try their hand at the Linyanti’s waters. For something truly special, guests can take a sundowner cruise aboard the Queen Sylvia barge, watching elephants and hippos in the lagoon as the light fades.
Sustainability: King’s Pool sits within Botswana’s 126,000-hectare Linyanti Wildlife Reserve, part of a vital cross-border corridor that connects elephant populations across Angola, Namibia, Zambia and Botswana. The camp’s raised design allows wildlife to move freely through this protected wilderness, helping to safeguard ancient migratory routes. It runs entirely on solar power, harnessing the warmth of the Botswana sun to provide all electricity and hot water. King’s Pool also supports the Wilderness Trust, which funds conservation and education projects across southern Africa, ensuring that the camp’s presence directly contributes to the long-term protection of the landscapes and wildlife that define this remarkable region.
