A small intimate camp, and a perfect alternative to Zambia's traditional safari destinations
Located in the heart of Kasanka National Park a little visited region of forest and wetlands, lays Wasa Lodge, a small intimate camp with a focus on conservation. This secluded reserve allows guests to experience the unique wildlife of Africa’s tropical forests, a perfect alternative to Zambia’s more familiar safari destinations.
The lodge has seven traditional chalets, four large and three smaller rondavels which are set into the tree line and overlook Lake Wasa, promising an intimate and personalised stay. Each of the rooms have en-suite bathrooms, hot and cold running water and spacious verandas. The main lodge holds a small and cosy bar area, chill zone and incredible views over the reserve complimented by an outside fire pit where guests can sit during the evenings and watch over the hippo filled lake.
Incredible game drives and guided safari walks are a must for guests visiting Wasa Lodge. Those looking for a unique game viewing experience can venture to Fibwe tree hide, a short climb into a magnificent mahogany tree and arguably one of the best places in Africa for observing the elusive wild Sitatunga (a type of antelope). Kasanka is also home to the phenomenal annual Straw Coloured Fruit Bat migration, between October and December, when 10 million bats converge to feast on the ripening fruit trees.
