Discover St Helena

A Hiker's Paradise in the South Atlantic

For anyone who loves to explore on foot, St Helena is nothing short of magical. This remote island in the South Atlantic offers a series of unforgettable hikes through dramatic volcanic landscapes, lush highlands, and rugged coastal paths. Over eight days, you’ll tackle iconic routes like Jacob’s Ladder - 699 steep steps that reward you with breathtaking views, as well as scenic trails to Sugar Loaf, Great Stone Top, and the volcanic rock formations at Lot’s Wife’s Ponds.

Tamara our St Helena specalist says:

“St Helena completely took me by surprise – it's an absolute dream for hikers. The mix of landscapes here – arid cliffs, cloud forest, wild coastline – is something else. Walking from Fairyland to Blue Point with nothing but birdsong and ocean views was unforgettable. It’s not just the scenery though – the people, the history, the way you’re welcomed in – it all stays with you."

You'll discover vibrant endemic plants in cloud forests, natural salt pools perfect for a refreshing dip, and spectacular panoramic views stretching out across the Atlantic. You’ll wander through historic spots too; from Napoleon’s exile homes to Rupert’s Valley, a key site in the island’s story of liberated Africans.

And then there’s Jonathan, the world’s oldest tortoise, who has been slowly roaming the island since before the lightbulb was invented!

Guided by knowledgeable locals, you’ll discover hidden gems and experience this extraordinary island’s wild beauty in a way few ever do. Whether you’re an experienced hiker or just love walking in stunning surroundings, this trip offers the perfect mix of adventure, history, and nature — all set in one of the world’s most remote and captivating places.
