The itinerary…

Day 1: Zambia time

Fly overnight from London, via Johannesburg, to Lusaka, Zambia’s capital city.

Day 2: South Luangwa National Park

On arrival into Lusaka International airport at about midday, you’ll transfer to the afternoon internal light aircraft flight to Mfuwe airport in South Eastern Zambia. This flight takes approximately one hour 30 minutes. See your children’s faces light up as they look out the plane windows at the unspoilt wilderness below, filling you all with awe before you even step foot in the National Park at the end of the Great Rift Valley.

Upon leaving customs at Mfuwe airport, you’ll be met by a Robin’s House guide who will transfer you in approximately 40 mins by road through beautiful scenery to your split-level safari house on the banks of the Luangwa River. You’ll immediately be taken care of by the on-site hostess team including a private chef and your own safari guide.

You’ll stay at Robin’s House for three nights, the Mum and Dad in their master bedroom, whilst the three kids will share a brightly coloured triple bedroom. All your meals and activities are included in the rate and the team on hand are particularly flexible and will speak to you about activities and meal times for each of the family members.

Day 3-4: Safari Drives and Walks

At Robin's House you have a choice of short walking safaris, game safaris and night drives. Over the next couple of days, you’ll settle into the safari pace of life and explore the National Park by vehicle and on foot. The early morning game drives might be a chance for the young ones to have a lie in, then go for a swim in the shallow pool designed for safety and bake cookies with the host(ess) whilst the parents have some quiet time.

Day 5: Overlook a Waterhole

Waking up to birdsong of the 450 bird species in South Luangwa National Park, you’ll be filled with a wave of excitement for your very brief transfer to Luangwa Safari House, a short drive south on the Luangwa River. You’ll stay in this magnificent four bedroomed house for the next three nights, overlooking a waterhole with the backdrop of the Chindeni Hills.

Day 6-7: Safari & Swim

As the animals stroll past the house, you won’t even need to leave home to experience the wilderness. Yet, if you do want to go out and about, you’ve arrived just in time to catch the end of the Emerald season when lagoon boat safaris are on offer for exceptional game viewing and birding. The Toyota Landcruiser safari vehicles have “window” seats all round, and with no roof – you have 360 degree vision.

Walking in the bush is a magical experience for the whole family, with real insights into nature explained by the knowledgeable guide and you can feel comfort knowing you’re escorted by an armed National Park scout. Visiting the Wildlife Education Centre, local village to play football with the Zambian kids, or buying some Tribal Textiles as souvenirs means there’s plenty to do for all the family!

Day 8: R&R Complete

After breakfast enjoy a return 45 minute scenic drive to Mfuwe airport for your flight back to London via Lusaka and Johannesburg.

Day 9: Back to School

Arriving to London in the early hours of the morning, make your way back to your normal home, feeling revived, inspired and happy with the memories, photos and souvenirs from your Easter in Zambia.
