Mahe Island is an archipelago about 900 miles east of Tanzania's coast. It is may be the largest and most developed of the Seychelles' 115 islands, but it is still equally tranquil, with each turn revealing another postcard-perfect vista. No better word than paradise can be used to describe the pristine, palm-laced white sand beaches that are gently lapped by crystal clear turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean. Exotic lush vegetation and delicate blooms cling to the sides of towering granite peaks in the centre of the island that descend quickly into the porcelain-sanded beaches. There's more to this island than the perfect beaches to lounge on though--visitors can explore the jungles on hiking trails, or dip under the ocean's surface to marvel at the hidden gems the coral reefs harbour.
