Adjacent to its sister hotel, Jardin du Roy, this lovely property is about 25 minutes from the national park HQ. The hotel blends into the sandstone massif and surrounds even more so than its sister property. The hotel is accessible by road along the RN7 and there is a nearby air strip.
The accommodation consists of five blocks of six spacious, en-suite rooms each, built mostly of stone and grouped around a courtyard. 28 are standard rooms (with fan) and two are luxury with a fireplace and air-conditioning. There is a spacious and airy restaurant where excellent meals are served (Malagasy dishes are offered, and guests enthuse about the packed lunches). At the bottom of the extensive gardens is a stream and the ‘runiforme’ sandstone rock formations characteristic of Isalo. Water is sourced from a stream and solar power is used for the en-suite showers. The sparkling pool offers very welcome respite from the intense tropical sun.
Visits to the Canyon des Singes and Canyon des Rats, which are cut into the sandstone landscape, can be arranged, along with guided walks in the picturesque Isalo National Park. The hotel has a stables it shares with its sister property and rides can be arranged in the surrounding countryside. At the spa, guests can enjoy massages and beauty treatments.
