Luxury eco-friendly Meru-styled tented rooms at remote Baobab Beach, north-west Madagascar
At Baobab Beach on the mainland opposite Nosy Be, and accessible only by means of speedboat transfers, the multiple eco award-winning Eden Lodge is one of very few properties in Madagascar to offer a combination of rare wildlife, good snorkelling and a beautiful, sandy beach.
Eight East Africa Meru-styled tented en-suite rooms are set in the expansive grounds along the beach. Each has a four-poster bed and en-suite bathroom with shower. All the rooms have a beach-facing veranda and a garden view terrace from where massages are provided. Two of the rooms are twins. A tree is planted for every guest who stays here. Meals are praised by all who visit the lodge. Breakfasts are buffet-style; lunches and dinners are a la carte. Electricity is powered by solar panels – aside from a small generator for the kitchen, this property is Madagascar’s first solar-powered, luxury establishment. Rooms each have a mini-bar, safe and private massage table.
There is a small activity centre on the beach. The lodge is ideally located as a base from where to visit islands of the Nosy Be archipelago. Swimming is safe and enjoyable as the sea slopes gently off the beach. Most visitors see green turtles offshore while snorkelling.
